Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) –

The Minnesota Vikings have traded cornerback Mekhi Blackmon to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

The move marks the end of Blackmon’s tenure with Minnesota after three seasons, during which the young defensive back showed flashes of promise but was ultimately derailed by injury.

The 24-year-old missed the entire 2024 season after suffering a torn ACL. The setback came at a crucial time in his development, as he had been competing for a more prominent role in the Vikings’ secondary.

Over his 15 career games with Minnesota, Blackmon recorded 41 tackles and one interception.

Blackmon will now have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Colts as he continues his recovery from the ACL injury.

The transaction was completed on Monday and is expected to become official pending Blackmon passing a physical with his new team.
