Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM)  – The Minnesota Twins will venture to one of baseball’s most magical settings in 2026, as Major League Baseball announced the team has been selected to play in the third Field of Dreams Game.

The Twins will face the Philadelphia Phillies in August 2026 at the specially constructed ballpark in Dyersville, Iowa, marking the first time a regular-season MLB game will be played at the site since 2022. Minnesota will serve as the home team for the showcase event.

The exact date will be revealed when MLB releases the complete 2026 schedule on Tuesday, though previous games have been played on the second Thursday in August.

The iconic Iowa cornfield was made famous by the beloved 1989 film “Field of Dreams.” The site holds special significance in baseball lore, immortalized by Kevin Costner’s character Ray Kinsella in the film that featured the famous line “If you build it, they will come.”

The first two Field of Dreams games featured the New York Yankees defeating the Chicago White Sox 9-8 in 2021 and the Chicago Cubs beating the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 in 2022.

For the Twins, the 2026 game represents an opportunity to be part of baseball history at one of the sport’s most unique venues. The team will join an exclusive group of franchises that have played at the site where Hollywood met baseball.

The game comes after a two-year hiatus while the field underwent major upgrades.

As Ray Kinsella learned in the movie, sometimes the most magical things happen when you take a leap of faith and in August 2026, the Minnesota Twins will step through the cornstalks and onto that field of dreams.
