DETROIT LAKES. – Becker County is inviting the public to take part in shaping the future of a new segment of the Heartland Trail. An open house for the Heartland Trail Routing Study will be held Monday, August 25, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Detroit Lakes Pavilion, 1025 Roosevelt Avenue.
The study, led by Becker County, aims to identify the best possible route for extending the Heartland Trail from Dunton Locks to Bucks Mill. The project is considering the needs of walkers, bikers, and snowmobilers to ensure the trail serves a variety of users.
Those attending can stop by any time during the open house, with presentations scheduled at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Organizers encourage residents to learn more about the study, ask questions, and provide input.
A project website has also been set up to provide details and collect feedback from the public: https://engage.hei.mysocialpinpoint.com/heartland-trail-study.
