Detroit Lakes, Minn. — Get ready for a sweet summertime tradition as the 25th Annual Ted Heisserer Detroit Lakes Morning Rotary Peach Sale returns on Friday, August 1st and Saturday, August 2nd.

Hosted in the Nereson’s Parking Lot, the popular sale offers farm-fresh, tree-ripened peaches straight from Washington orchards—perfect for pies, jams, smoothies, or just enjoying fresh. A full lug sells for $45, and half-lugs are available for $28.

The sale runs from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, or until sold out. Organizers note that peaches often sell out on the first day, so early arrival is encouraged.

Proceeds from the sale go toward supporting local Rotary projects throughout the community. The event is named in honor of longtime Rotarian Ted Heisserer.

Rotarian Kathy Michealson, add a few tips on proper storage, “You need to take your peaches out of the box and out of those plastic containers. Those plastic containers make them ripen faster. And the other thing is if you take them out of there and you want to put them in the fridge, layer them in your crisper with paper towels in between. The other very important thing is stem side down, because otherwise moisture pools in that little indent and that does stuff to your peaches as well.

For those in Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas, it’s a delicious way to support a good cause—one juicy bite at a time.
