Detroit Lakes , MN – Attorneys for Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell are requesting the court to dismiss one of the charges against her. They accuse Becker County prosecutors of acting with vindictiveness by adding a second felony charge after her trial was delayed.
Mitchell was initially charged in February with felony possession of burglary or theft tools, as she allegedly used a crowbar to enter a home that her late father shared with her stepmother. In April 2024, she was arrested on a pending first-degree burglary charge and pleaded not guilty in August.
Her trial is scheduled for June 18th.
