16th Annual Reel Country Classic Fishing Tournament Underway on Otter Tail Lake

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The 16th Annual Reel Country Classic two-day fishing tournament kicks off today on Otter Tail Lake.

The event, which is hosted by KRCQ and Leighton Broadcasting has been a favorite of professional anglers as well as hobbyists from all corners of the state.

Dave Lee with KRCQ says the event has grown each year, “We see the same teams that come back every year…and the tournament has grown every year, the cash payouts attract too.”

Despite many fishing tournaments being cancelled last summer in Minnesota due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Reel Country Classic found a way to host their tournament last year by making modifications some of which they’ve retained for this year’s tournament including virtual captains meetings.

This year, the tournament will be headquartered at Beach Bums Bar & Eatery on Otter Tail Lake with in person weigh ins and spectators welcome.
