The Becker County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving a caller who falsely claims to be “Deputy James Davis” from the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Todd Glander wants to make it clear: There is no Deputy James Davis employed by the department, and law enforcement never calls people to demand payment for warrants, court fees, or legal issues.
“If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not provide any personal information, and never send money. If you have questions about an active warrant, contact us directly,” says Sheriff Glander.
How to Protect Yourself:
