Community Crowdfunds Skating Equipment at Project 412’s Hotdish Pitch

Good food and great ideas took center stage at Project 412’s second Hotdish Pitch at Bucks Mill Brewery, where about 100 community members gathered for a night of grassroots funding and creative pitches aimed at improving life in Detroit Lakes.
For a $5 donation, attendees enjoyed a classic hotdish meal while listening to four local presentations, each offering an innovative way to connect and strengthen the community. After hearing the pitches, guests cast their votes for the idea they wanted to see come to life.
At the end of the evening, the Detroit Lakes Figure Skating Club and Youth Hockey League won over the crowd with their inclusive skating proposal—a plan to provide skates and equipment so that more community members can experience the joy of skating, free of cost.
Project 412 organizers praised all four presentations, emphasizing that each idea has the potential to make a lasting impact.
“Every project presented tonight was a winner,” organizers said. “We can’t wait to see how these ideas grow and shape our community.”
Project 412 continues to foster local initiatives through events like the Hotdish Pitch, where small donations add up to big changes for Detroit Lakes.
