The missionary community is reeling as Jackie Shroyer, the wife of former Detroit Lakes police officer and real estate agent Beau Shroyer, has been formally charged in connection with his murder in Angola.
Beau, 44, was killed in a violent attack on October 25, 2024, while serving as a missionary with his wife and their five children in Angola. Authorities now allege Jackie was a co-author in the crime, working alongside 24-year-old security guard Bernadino Elias, who was employed at their residence.
According to Angolan investigators, Jackie and Elias were romantically involved, and she allegedly offered financial incentives to have her husband killed. Reports suggest that Beau was lured to a remote location under the pretense of a vehicle breakdown and fatally stabbed.
Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, where the Shroyers were members, addressed the shocking development in a statement from Pastor Troy Easton. He confirmed that Jackie remains in custody and will stand trial within the next six months.
Beau and Jackie’s five children are now in the care of close family, supported by Lakes Area Vineyard Church and SIM USA, the missionary organization they served with.
The Lakes Area Vineyard Church congregation continues to process the news, offering prayers and support for the Shroyer family during this deeply painful time.
