Detroit Lakes VFW to Offer Veterans New Telehealth Services Through VA ATLAS Program

By Trish Johnson Feb 20, 2025 | 6:45 AM

Veterans in Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas will soon have a new way to connect with their healthcare providers—without the long drive to a VA clinic. The Fargo VA Health Care System, in partnership with the Jess Omundson VFW Post 1676, is launching a new Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations (ATLAS) site on March 21, 2025, at the Detroit Lakes VFW (500 Washington Ave).
This ATLAS site is part of the VA’s Anywhere to Anywhere telehealth initiative, designed to make healthcare more accessible for veterans who may face challenges like long travel times, winter weather, or unreliable internet. Veterans using this service will have access to a private, high-tech space with secure internet and VA Video Connect technology to meet with their VA healthcare providers virtually.
A grand opening event is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on March 21. Veterans and their families are invited to tour the site, meet the VFW team, and learn how telehealth can improve access to medical care.
An on-site attendant will assist with check-in and technical support, but all appointments will remain private. The Fargo VA Health Care System encourages local veterans to take advantage of this game-changing resource for accessing healthcare closer to home.
