Detroit Lakes High School students earned top honors in two major competitions this week, showcasing their talent in music and speech.
On Wednesday, February 12, DLHS hosted a Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) music contest, welcoming students from Alexandria, Brainerd, Bemidji, Fergus Falls, and Moorhead. Twenty DLHS soloists competed, with 17 earning a “superior” rating and three receiving an “excellent” rating.
Meanwhile, the Laker Speech Team placed 2nd out of 12 teams at the Staples Tournament. Individual finalists included Jack Leff (Extemp Speaking Champion!), Declan Jessen, Ethan Hendrickson, Neil Trowbridge, Brielle Amundson, Sophie Burnside, Audriana Flugel, Julian Jimenez, and Aili Salber.
These achievements highlight the dedication and excellence of DLHS students. Congratulations to all participants!
