Authorities have issued a warrant for 53-year-old Troy Moberg following the discovery of illegally possessed firearms in his home after a fire last November. The blaze, which began in an outbuilding, spread to and destroyed Moberg’s residence the Monday before Thanksgiving. During the investigation, Otter Tail County Deputies and the State Fire Marshal’s Office found five firearms damaged by the fire in the bedroom, along with a baggie of methamphetamine. Moberg, previously convicted of a “crime of violence,” is prohibited from possessing firearms. He admitted ownership of the guns, stating he intended to pass them to his children, and acknowledged using methamphetamine recreationally after a job layoff. Moberg faces charges of illegally possessing a firearm as a convict, illegally possessing a firearm as a controlled substance user, and fifth-degree possession of drugs. A warrant was issued after he missed his initial court appearance on February 10, 2025.
