A Frazee man has been sentenced for failing to comply with predatory offender registration requirements after relocating to Louisiana without permission.
Anthony Ruben Lucero, 62, was convicted in 1988 in California for lewd acts with a child under 14 and in 2017 in Becker County for third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13. These convictions mandate his registration as a predatory offender.
In December 2020, detectives in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, received a tip that Lucero had been living and working in Sulphur, Louisiana, since September 24, 2020, without notifying Minnesota authorities. Lucero admitted to relocating without permission, despite a prior denied request to transfer his probation to Louisiana.
On February 3, District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Lucero to 14 months in the St. Cloud prison, stayed for four years. He was ordered to serve 79 days in jail, credited for time served, fined $265, and placed on supervised probation for four years. Lucero must register as a predatory offender in any state he resides and obtain permission from his probation officer before leaving Minnesota.
