A Message from Sheriff Todd: Stay Safe on Winter Roads

By Trish Johnson Jan 28, 2025 | 4:26 AM

With winter weather in full swing, Sheriff Todd Glander is reminding Becker County residents to stay cautious on the roads. Blowing snow and icy conditions can reduce visibility and make stopping difficult, so it’s essential to take precautions.
“Slow down and turn on your headlights — even during the day,” Sheriff Glander said in a recent Facebook post.
Minnesota law requires headlights when:
• Using windshield wipers due to rain, snow, or ice.
• Visibility is reduced to less than 500 feet.
But even when conditions don’t legally require it, Sheriff Glander encourages drivers to turn on their headlights for added safety. “They help you see other vehicles and pedestrians, and they make it easier for other drivers to see you,” he said.
This winter, keep your headlights on, slow down, and stay safe on the roads, Becker County!
