Free Community Naloxone Training in DL to Help Prevent Opioid Overdoses

Jan 23, 2025 | 6:10 AM

Detroit Lakes residents have an opportunity to learn life-saving skills at a free Community Naloxone Training hosted by Becker County Public Health next week.
The training takes place on Tuesday, January 30th, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Detroit Lakes Public Library. Participants can attend in person or join virtually via Microsoft Teams.
This hybrid training will cover:
• How to recognize an opioid overdose.
• Understanding naloxone (NARCAN) and its use.
• Details on Steve’s Law (Minnesota’s Good Samaritan & Naloxone Legislation).
The session includes a demonstration of naloxone administration and provides attendees with their own naloxone kit. Fentanyl test kits will also be available at the event—no questions asked.
For those unable to attend, both naloxone and fentanyl test kits are available on weekdays at the Becker County Human Services Office.
This training aims to equip the community with the tools and knowledge to prevent opioid overdoses and save lives.
