Time Running Out to Register for Second Hot Dish Microgranting Dinner

Jan 21, 2025 | 6:12 AM

Detroit Lakes residents still have time to submit their ideas for building community at the second Hot Dish microgranting dinner hosted by local nonprofit Project 412. The event is set for Monday, Feb. 24, at Bucks Mill Brewing in downtown Detroit Lakes.
This unique event encourages local innovators to pitch their ideas to attendees, who enjoy a plate of hot dish while voting for their favorite presentation. The winner receives a microgrant—all proceeds from the dinner—to launch their concept, along with professional support from the Project 412 team.
At the inaugural Hot Dish dinner last November, Kathryn Hoffmann-Thompson won the $815 prize for her idea to bring monthly square dances to Detroit Lakes, an inclusive activity she described as “a way for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect.”
Interested applicants must submit their ideas by Feb. 9 through the Project 412 website at project412mn.org/hotdish. Finalists will be notified two weeks before the event and can work with a pitch coach to prepare their presentations.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, with tickets available at the door for $5, which includes admission and a hot dish dinner.
