A warrant has been issued for 56-year-old Lamont Lee Cervenka of Detroit Lakes after he failed to appear in Otter Tail County Court on Monday, where he was set to face charges of 3rd Degree Possession of Fentanyl.
The charges stem from a March 2024 traffic stop in Bluffton, where officials noted signs of recent drug use from Cervenka and another passenger, 35-year-old Nicole Marie Blackburde of Frazee. During a search, law enforcement discovered 7 grams of fentanyl on Cervenka, who admitted to possessing the substance. Blackburde was found with 4.5 grams of fentanyl and reportedly told officers that the group had traveled to the Twin Cities the night before to obtain controlled substances.
While Cervenka missed his court appearance, Blackburde appeared as scheduled and now faces 5th Degree Possession of Drugs charges.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about fentanyl trafficking and abuse in the region, with law enforcement emphasizing the dangers of the highly potent opioid. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to help combat the spread of dangerous drugs in Detroit Lakes and surrounding areas.
