New Metro College Alliance Joining M State

Five higher education institutions, including M State, have joined forces under the new Metro College Alliance course exchange agreement. The partnership also includes Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead, North Dakota State College of Science, and North Dakota State University.

Effective January 1, 2025, this agreement allows degree-seeking students to enroll in courses at any of the participating institutions without going through separate admission processes. The goal is to provide greater academic flexibility and support students in completing their degrees.

The new agreement replaces the Tri-College University consortium, which has been in place since 1970. M State President Carrie Brimhall emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying it offers students a richer academic experience while keeping their education local.

The Metro College Alliance is expected to make it easier for students to access courses that might not be available at their home institution, especially in their final year or for specific program requirements.
