The Laker girls’ basketball team lost at home on Thursday night to Fargo North, with a final score of 49-41. The loss drops the Lakers’ record to 2-4 for the season, while Fargo North, secured their first win of the season, improving to 1-2.
The game was tied at 20-20 at halftime. The Lakers played with a shortened bench, missing Aveah Smith due to an ankle injury and Isabelle Wolf, who was out with an illness. Despite being shorthanded, the Lakers initially took control of the game, jumping out to an early 11-0 lead. However, they struggled as the game progressed.
Karlee Mace led the Lakers in scoring, finishing with 16 points. Fargo North gained the lead in the second half, thanks in part to three three-pointers by Olivia Hammes, who ended the game with 17 points.
The Lakers will aim to recover and bounce back on Tuesday when they travel to Little Falls to face the Flyers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
