Detroit Lakes to Welcome New Pollinator Garden in 2025

Dec 9, 2024 | 7:35 AM

The Detroit Lakes Park Board has approved a pollinator garden project spearheaded by the Prairie Woods Chapter of the Izaak Walton League and Boy Scouts Troop 674.

Presented by Prairie Woods Chapter Vice President Sue Sonnenberg on Dec. 4, the project aims to support conservation efforts by creating critical habitat for butterflies and other pollinators. The garden will be designed to provide proper soil, water, and sunlight, and will feature signage for education and beautification purposes.

The Izaak Walton League will fund and assist with the garden’s design, planting, and maintenance for at least five years, while the Scouts will lead and participate in the project as part of their conservation mission.

The next step is identifying a suitable location within Detroit Lakes. For updates and full details on this project, visit our app or website.
