Minnesota Awards $5.3M in Grants to Support Student Parents

Dec 6, 2024 | 2:24 PM

The Minnesota Office of Higher Education, in partnership with the Department of Health, has awarded $5.3 million in grants to 13 organizations to support student parents. The goal? Helping parents balance academics, health, and family life while pursuing higher education.

OHE Commissioner Dennis Olson says these grants aim to remove barriers like childcare shortages, financial struggles, and lack of campus support. Funds will help with on-campus childcare, scholarships, basic needs, and even mental health services.

Organizations receiving funds include Central Lakes College, Minneapolis Community and Technical College, and the Jeremiah Program, which was awarded $1.7 million.

The initiative not only boosts parents’ success but also benefits their children, promoting better education outcomes and overall well-being. For details, visit the Minnesota Office of Higher Education website.
