Law Enforcement in DL tackles a steady stream of calls to 911 each day. This is a sample of calls Dispatch received over the last week.
- 12:39 a.m.: A vehicle left at a lake access on U.S. Highway 59, Detroit Lakes, had its window smashed and a speaker stolen.
- 2:25 a.m.: Disturbance was reported when two people sleeping in a vehicle in an alley on State Street West, Detroit Lakes, got into an argument. 11:38 a.m.: Counterfeit money was used at a business on Roosevelt Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
2:25 p.m.: An elderly Park Rapids woman reported being scammed out of $900 for several years. The scammer was offering firewall protection, the victim made a payment of $400 a few years ago and $500 more recently. The woman had given personal information and was advised not to speak with the scammer anymore
- 5 a.m.: The caller at a Shady Lane, Detroit Lakes, residence reported hearing heavy machinery and loud beeping. Law enforcement did not locate anything.
- 9:26 a.m.: Caller at a Rock Rice Road, Rochert, residence reported damage to their mailbox. Remnants of a car mirror were found.
- 10:04 a.m.: Caller reported damage to their mailbox on Bayridge Drive, Detroit Lakes. The person who hit the mailbox with their vehicle returned to pay for the damage.
- 11:06 a.m.: Caller reported juveniles who were smashing pumpkins with sticks on Main Avenue West, Frazee. The caller stated the juveniles threatened their spouse with a stick. The incident is under investigation.
- 2:45 p.m.: A political sign was reported stolen from a residence on East Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes.
- 2:47 p.m.: A political sign was reported stolen from a residence on South Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes.
- 3:58 p.m.: Caller reported finding injection needles behind a building on 370th Street, Ogema, and wanted them to be disposed of.
- 5:34 p.m.: Disturbance was reported when two neighbors got into an argument about garbage cans and where they should be placed on the street on Union Street West, Detroit Lakes.
- 8:15 p.m.: Caller reported someone banging on their door at a residence on Union Street West, Detroit Lakes. No one was located.
- 10:54 a.m.: Fraud was reported at the Becker County Landfill when someone wrote a check from a closed account.
- 5:05 p.m.: Caller reported that someone was in a house that was not supposed to be occupied on North Street East, Detroit Lakes. The caller noticed a light was on that was not on previously. No one was located in the home.
- 5:33 p.m.: A 40-year-old rural Waubun man died of an overdose in Waubun. Life-saving measures at the scene were unsuccessful.
- 7:08 p.m.: Caller reported an ATV that was running and unoccupied in their driveway along Kolb Street, Ogema.
- 7:50 p.m.: Caller reported a microwave fire at a residence on Old Mill Road, Osage. The caller had extinguished the fire but wanted assistance unplugging the microwave.
- 8:32 p.m.: Caller at a Sharon Avenue, Detroit Lakes, residence reported hearing two gunshots. Law enforcement did not locate anyone or anything.
- 10:04 p.m.: Caller reported that someone had kicked in their sister’s door at Eagle Drive, Ogema, residence.
