Sheriff Todd Glander of Becker County has announced the start of the 2024 Law Enforcement Scholarship Program, a statewide initiative led by the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association (MSA). Up to 18 scholarships, each worth $2,000, are available to students pursuing law enforcement degrees or peace officer skills training.
These scholarships aim to support students who are committed to a career in law enforcement, especially those who may need financial assistance to cover the costs of training. Sheriff Glander emphasized that this scholarship program not only helps future law enforcement professionals but also encourages young people to enter a field that serves and protects Minnesota communities.
The scholarships are open to Minnesota students enrolled in one of three qualifying programs:
- The POST Skills Program for mandated peace officer skills.
- Second-year students in a two-year law enforcement program.
- Third- or fourth-year students in a four-year criminal justice degree program.
Applications are due by December 30, and forms can be obtained through local sheriff’s offices.
