A Becker County Sheriff’s team apprehended 50-year-old Robert James Azure Sr. in White Earth on October 27, following a tense standoff and threats directed at deputies. Becker County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies arrived around 7:25 p.m. to serve Azure multiple outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants. Upon entering the residence with permission to search, deputies identified Azure, who then barricaded himself in a bedroom, threatening to shoot if officers attempted to apprehend him.
Additional deputies and officers from White Earth and Callaway were called to assist. Around 8:42 p.m., after a standoff of over an hour, Azure voluntarily exited the room and was taken into custody without further incident.
Azure now faces charges on several warrants, including felony drug possession and burglary, as well as misdemeanor violations tied to an order for protection and a domestic assault. He is currently held at the Becker County Jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.
