Launches Final Grant Round for Main Street Economic Revitalization Program

Oct 22, 2024 | 6:52 AM

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has launched the final round of funding for the Main Street Economic Revitalization Program. This final round will award the remaining $4.68 million of the $80 million program, which was approved by the Minnesota Legislature and Governor Tim Walz in 2021.

The program is designed to boost economic development and community revitalization. Eligible organizations—such as economic development foundations, community development financial institutions, and nonprofits—can submit proposals for funding to support commercial and community projects in defined Main Street districts. These projects may include property repairs, building construction, and other community improvement initiatives.

So far, the program has supported over 600 projects, bringing in $696 million in matching funds, and has helped create or retain more than 8,700 jobs statewide. The final round of proposals is due by 4 p.m. on Friday, November 22. DEED will announce the selected partner organizations in January 2025.
