More Help from the MN National Guard for Hurricane Relief

Oct 11, 2024 | 8:09 AM

The Minnesota National Guard continues to play a critical role in hurricane relief efforts. Recently, Governor Tim Walz confirmed that 13 airmen from the 148th Fighter Wing have been deployed to Florida, while 11 soldiers from the St. Cloud-based unit, along with two Chinook helicopters, were sent to North Carolina earlier. These soldiers have been involved in transporting over 30,000 pounds of cargo, including essential supplies like water, food, medicine, and cold-weather gear, to areas that are hard to reach due to hurricane damage.

Additionally, the Minnesota All-Hazard Incident Management Team and the St. Louis County Command Post are also providing crucial support in hurricane-stricken regions, contributing to both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. The National Guard’s contributions underscore Minnesota’s ongoing commitment to aiding disaster-stricken areas across the country.
