Collision on Highway34 Involving Becker County Squad Car

A collision occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 3:40 PM on Minnesota Highway 34 in Toad Lake Township, Becker County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2014 Honda Odyssey traveling westbound collided with a Becker County squad car that was also heading west.

 

The driver of the Honda Odyssey, 82-year-old Richard West Blaine from Fargo, MN, was uninjured, and his airbags deployed upon impact. His passenger, 83-year-old Carolyn Elizabeth Blaine, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia ER for treatment.

 

The Becker County squad car, a 2022 Ford F-150, was driven by 27-year-old Nicholas Thomas Daniel from Park Rapids, MN, who was unharmed. His passenger, 34-year-old Caleb Jesse Korb from Detroit Lakes, was also uninjured. Both men were wearing seat belts, and no airbags were deployed in the squad car.

 

The road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash. Local authorities, including the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene, and no alcohol was involved.
