Sep 27, 2024 | 6:49 AM

Governor Tim Walz has declared **Saturday, September 28th** as **Public Lands Day**, aligning with National Public Lands Day. This event celebrates Minnesota’s 5.6 million acres of public lands, managed by the DNR, which play a critical role in climate change mitigation, outdoor recreation, and supporting local economies.

DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen highlighted the importance of conservation partnerships and the state’s **Get Out MORE** initiative, aimed at modernizing outdoor recreation experiences. Residents of Becker and Otter Tail counties are encouraged to enjoy local public lands this weekend, appreciating the natural resources that contribute to both the environment and community’s well-being.
