As Detroit Lakes Public Schools prepare for the new academic year starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, they welcome 19 new teachers across various grades and subjects, including chemistry, biology, special education, and vocal music.
The Detroit Lakes School Board announced these additions at their Aug. 26 meeting, along with approving new student handbooks and discussing policies on cellphone usage, discipline, and crisis management. All district schools will host a back-to-school open house on Aug. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. for parents and students.
The new policies will be reviewed for final approval at the next board meeting on Sept. 23.
