Adrian Jay Hawkman, 40, of Fargo, is facing felony check forgery charges in Becker County District Court. The charges stem from an incident on May 2, when Hawkman allegedly cashed a forged check for $3,868.41 at the American National Bank in Detroit Lakes.
Bank staff grew suspicious when Hawkman, who had his hood up and appeared to be concealing his face, cashed the check. The bank’s deposit operations team later confirmed that the check was forged, as the check numbers had never been issued, and the business owners confirmed they had not written the check.
Hawkman’s identification was matched to the individual who cashed the check, and police confirmed the ID through the National Crime Information Center. Hawkman failed to appear for his court date on July 18, leading to a warrant for his arrest.
