Dalton Senior Housing Project Breaks Ground

Aug 1, 2024 | 7:59 AM

The North Fields of Dalton senior housing project is officially underway. The Otter Tail County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) broke ground on the project on July 26, bringing a $1.6 million housing investment to the north end of Dalton.

Scheduled for completion in the winter of 2025, the project will provide six rental housing units specifically designed for seniors. The units will include one- and two-bedroom options with 1 ¼ bathrooms, and amenities such as in-unit washers/dryers, dishwashers, and included lawn care and snow removal. The Otter Tail County HRA will own and operate the units.

Key partners in this project include Otter Tail County, Otter Tail County HRA, the City of Dalton, Northstar System Built, Novelty Homes, Leitch Excavating, and Ohren Electric. Otter Tail County HRA Board Chair Wayne Johnson expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts, stating, “It’s amazing what can happen when we have collaboration and cooperation.”

Dalton City Clerk Tanya Bakken highlighted the significance of this project for the community, noting the rarity of residential construction in recent years and the excitement for new housing options. The city is also looking for buyers to develop the remaining residential lots in the newly platted North Fields of Dalton.
