DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – A Lakes Area man is encouraging Lakes Area residents to participate in a citywide week of prayer.
Beginning May 1 – 7, Barry Schoder will host a citywide week of prayer in Detroit Lakes in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 6.
Schoder says prayer hasn’t always been something he’s looked forward to, “I didn’t used to understand prayer and I didn’t like prayer and I never saw anyone get any answers to prayer and then I heard two testimonies. In one case a Budhist government official in Thailand became a Christian and then a 15 year-old high school student in Hawaii went to his school principle and asked if he could pray for the school about a drug problem and within three weeks they nailed the top drug dealers they were trying to get for year.”
Schoder has created daily devotions focused on prayer that can be heard on KDLM, residents are also encouraged to visit the Detroit Lakes City Park each day at noon to pray and discuss the days featured topics which include family, church, government, education, business, media and entertainment & recreation.
