In 2014 the Cormorant Daze Committee decided to run a Mayor Election for the Village of Comorant in conjunction with their summertime festival “Cormorant Daze.” Duke was the winner, in a landslide. Duke was a dog. Not just any dog, a dog who dedicated his life to the service of the good people of the village. Quoting from the Hawley Herald “Duke was the most regal kind-hearted Mayor anyone could ask for.” Sadly, Duke has moved on to govern the Rainbow Bridge. Tammy Odegaard, staff writer for the Herald continues “Although we will never be able to replace Duke, we all know time moves on and for the good of the village, it is time to elect a new mayor. With the whole country being a buzz with election news, the committee thought perhaps now would be a great time.” Nominations have been submitted and the race is down to 4. After careful consideration, a prestigious panel of judges named the four candidates for Cormorant Mayor
2024.
1) Khaleesi Sherbrooke is relatively new to the area. She is a 140 pound Great Pyrenees, Originally from Idaho Falls, and now a full-time Cormorant resident. Owners are Dave and Julie Sherbrooke.
2) Ollie Einerson is an eight-month-old half Golden
Retriever and half English Cream Golden Retriever. Ollie and his family are proprietors of the Cormorant Bottle Shop.
3) Theodore H. Rosten, or better known as Teddy or Teddy Bear. Teddy is a three and half year old Bassett Hound. Teddy was born in Iowa and moved to the area when he was eight weeks old. He now lives just outside Cormorant Village with his family.
4) Ken Matthees is a local entrepreneur and well known member of the Cormorant Community. He is a 29 year old adult male human, born and raised in Cormorant.

Mayor will be sworn in during Cormorant Daze on Saturday, August 17th, 2024.
