Living History-The Viking Age:
Skol! Learn all about the Viking Age with a 2 p.m. living history presentation at the Detroit Lakes Public Library (1000 Washington Ave.), showcasing the Scandinavian heritage claimed by many Minnesota immigrants. Minnesotan historian and educator Arn Kind will bring history to life with a realistic portrayal of this mysterious age of runes, raids, and sagas. Learn how these Scandinavians became excellent traders, craftsmen, ship-builders, inventors, and navigators, and how their raids disrupted the power structure of medieval kingdoms, ultimately resulting in the formation of Europe that exists today. Hosted by Lake Agassiz Regional Library, admission to this presentation is free thanks partly to funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
