The National Weather Service has confirmed a waterspout sighting in northeastern Minnesota. The waterspout formed on Lake Vermilion just before 2:30 Sunday afternoon in an area northwest of Echo Point and west of Ely Island. According to the weather service, the waterspout lasted about five minutes and traveled about two miles. It stayed mainly over open water, and no damage or injuries were reported.
