Minnesota has just made $150 million available in down payment assistance loans for first-generation homebuyers. Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, who recently bought her first home with her husband, highlighted the significance of this initiative. Reflecting on her own experience, she said, “As a kid who grew up in an apartment — thankfully to a Section 8 housing voucher — being a first-time home buyer, having a basement for sleepovers, a backyard to dine with my family, it’s a big deal.”
The funds are expected to help around 4,500 first-generation homebuyers achieve their dream of owning a home.
