Essentia Health is proud to announce that its EMS team serving Detroit Lakes and nearby communities has received the prestigious EMS Clinical Excellence Award from the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) for their outstanding care in 2023.
Joe Newton, senior director of emergency medical services at Essentia, stated, “I couldn’t be prouder of the exemplary care our Essentia Health EMS professionals deliver every day. It’s rewarding to see our awarded locations increase from four in 2022 to six.”
The award requires a performance rate of 80% or higher in at least five out of nine clinical performance measures, including response times and patient assessments. Dylan Ferguson, executive director of the EMSRB, commended the team’s dedication and exceptional care.
Essentia Health’s EMS team responds to about 13,000 service requests annually, transporting over 10,000 patients, demonstrating their vital role in community healthcare.
