The Section 8AA Baseball Tournament continued on Monday 6/3 in Perham. In an Elimination game at Matt’s Field, The #7 Seed in the South Hawley Nuggets hosted the #1 Seed in the North East Grand Forks Green Wave, on a beautiful afternoon. Hawley used 3 walks, to open the bottom of the first from EGF Starter Noah Frize, to take an early 3-0 lead. EGF then got 2 runs back in the Top of the 2nd and added 2 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 3 more in the Top of the 7th inning to open an 8-3 lead heading into the Bottom of the 7th inning. Through 6, EGF had a combined No-hitter and got the first out in the 7th, before Leadoff Hitter and 2nd Baseman Aiden Eilertson got a 1-out Single to right, but Hawley could not make a comeback….losing to EGF 8-3 to end their 2024 Baseball Season. The Nuggets had three Seniors….Cael Kosmatka, Jayden Ambuehl and Aiden Eilertson. The Section 8AA Tournament will continue on Tuesday 12p/2:30pm and IF a Final game is needed on Thursday in Perham at 2:30pm.
