
MNN – The Minnesota Department of Health is urging eligible families who aren’t yet enrolled in the WIC program to apply. WIC, which stands for Women, Infants, and Children, is a federal supplemental nutrition program designed to support families in need.
According to MDH spokeswoman Kate Franken, there are still about 61,000 eligible Minnesota families who haven’t signed up for the program. WIC benefits are substantial, providing essential food items like milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, whole grains, cereal, peanut butter, beans, and more. Plus, participants receive $26 to $52 each month to purchase fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables.
