Cancer Care Conference for Healthcare Pros: Earn Contact Hours at M State Fergus Falls

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. – M State’s Workforce Development Solutions, in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, is hosting a Cancer Care Conference for healthcare professionals on Friday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This conference offers nurses, social workers, and dental professionals the opportunity to earn four contact hours. The 2024 conference will focus on proactive strategies for cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment, with specific attention to oral cancers, lung cancer, and cervical and ovarian cancer. Additionally, there will be discussions on cancer treatment outcomes in the community and the importance of end-of-life planning.

Jenna Stammen, Director of Health Training for M State’s Workforce Development Solutions, expressed, “M State has co-sponsored this annual conference for several years, and it’s well-reputed for its educational quality and applicability to the on-the-job needs of healthcare professionals. Our speakers this year bring a range of expertise to the table, and we expect another strong turnout. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.” The conference will feature speakers such as Nancy Franke Wilson, Executive Director of the Minnesota Oral Health Coalition, discussing “It Can’t Be Me: The Reluctant Cancer Patient,” and Tanya Baity, Certified Nurse Midwife, presenting “Cervical and Ovarian Cancers: Trauma-Informed and Fat-Friendly Approaches to Screening.”

The event will take place at M State’s Moorhead campus, in the Oscar Bergos Conference Center (rooms A115-A121); enter through doors W1 or S1. Participants can earn their four contact hours with a paid $80 registration fee and proof of attendance.
