
Gwinner, N.D. – Authorities in Sargent County are currently investigating a devastating house fire that resulted in the loss of a woman’s life and one of her dogs. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, April 14, when a woman placed a frantic call to 911 just before 4 a.m. However, dispatchers tragically lost contact with her during the call. Upon arrival, Gwinner fire crews discovered the woman in an upstairs room. She was swiftly transported to a healthcare facility in Lisbon, where she was pronounced dead. A man who was also in the home at the time of the fire managed to escape, along with two other dogs.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have originated in the basement of the home. Officials have stated that there is currently nothing suspicious about the incident. Despite the swift response, a firefighter on the scene required treatment for smoke inhalation. Authorities have indicated that they plan to release the name of the deceased woman in the coming days. This heartbreaking event serves as a somber reminder of the importance of fire safety and vigilance in the home.
