SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. – A standoff in South St. Paul has extended into the evening hours after starting on Sunday. Police have cordoned off Marie Avenue as negotiations continue. In a news release issued around 4 p.m., authorities stated they were actively working to resolve the situation. They also cautioned residents about an increased police presence in the area until the situation is resolved. In a subsequent update at 9:20 p.m., police confirmed that SWAT had been called in to provide assistance.

The police assured the public that the incident is confined to a single residence. They have temporarily relocated neighboring residents to a safe location and believe there is no risk to the general public with law enforcement controlling the scene. Despite these assurances, the situation remains active, and authorities are working to achieve a safe outcome for everyone involved. The cause of the police response has not been disclosed.
