Train Horns Resume in Downtown Moorhead Quiet Zone

By Paul Torres Apr 2, 2024 | 2:23 PM

Train horns will once again be echoing through the downtown Moorhead quiet zone, as the city announces their return during construction work on the 11th Street underpass project. The horns are expected to sound during construction hours, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The 11th Street underpass project is a significant endeavor, marking the largest project in Moorhead’s history. Ground was broken in March, with the project slated for completion in November 2026.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize worker safety,” the city shared on its social media platforms.

City officials emphasized that train engineers may sound their horns for various reasons, including safety concerns or obstacles on the tracks. Residents with complaints are encouraged to contact BNSF. For more information about the underpass project, residents can visit the city’s website..
