A Grand Forks Sheriff’s Deputy has been placed on temporary leave following a shooting incident on the 500 block of W. 8th Street. The incident unfolded after authorities received a report of a possible homicide at a residence. Upon arrival, the regional SWAT team and UAS team were called in to assist. After several attempts to communicate with the suspect inside the home, the SWAT team breached the front door. The suspect then fired multiple rounds at the SWAT vehicle before eventually exiting the home. When the suspect made a suspicious movement towards his waist, the deputy fired, striking the suspect. The injured man was transported to Altru Hospital, and his current condition remains unknown. The North Dakota BCI is now investigating the incident
