Governor Doug Burgum, Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus, and Chairman Mark Fox of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation will sign a landmark agreement in Bismarck on Friday. This agreement allows North Dakota’s tribal nations to impose a single tax on alcohol sales within their reservations, with 80% of the revenue going to the tribes and 20% to the state’s general fund. The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation will be the first to finalize this agreement, signaling a positive step in cooperation between the state and tribal nations.
