Detroit Lakes School District Plans Learning Model Change

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes School District plans to change learning models again to bring more students back into buildings for face to face learning.

Superintendent Mark Jenson said in a memo Friday, the District petitioned the Regional COVID Support Team to make the change as case numbers and hospitalizations continue to decline in the area.

Beginning Tuesday, January 19 PK-grade 5 will be Face to Face, grades 6-12 will be in a hybrid model.

Jenson says, “The District will continue to monitor local numbers (county-wide and in our schools) where positive COVID cases are concerned on a weekly basis prior to and after the 19th. The goal is to begin assessing when we can start bringing back our secondary students to a face to face learning model.”
