Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – A 4-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries during a UTV side-by-side rollover crash at a property on County Road 9, north of Lake Park, on Friday morning.
According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 22 at 10:59 a.m., emergency dispatchers received a report that a boy had been injured in a UTV crash and was been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.
The vehicle was intercepted by Lake Park police and emergency responders.
Due to heavy fog conditions, air medical helicopter units were unable to fly, so the boy was then transported by ambulance to a Fargo hospital with potential life-threatening injuries. His condition is currently unknown.
According to a preliminary crash report, the injured boy was a passenger in a Kubota RTV900, driven by his 6-year-old brother.
The two were travelling on a gravel roadway on private property when it left the road and rolled over in a ditch.
Neither of the boys were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and road conditions were reported as “wet” at the time of the rollover.
The incident remains under investigation by the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.
