Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – A Detroit Lakes man has been charged with felony second-degree assaultĀ after striking a juvenile at the Becker County Fair with a tire iron during a fight involving multiple people.
According to court records, on July 27, a juvenile male reported that he was assaulted by four or five people after he was punched and knocked to the ground by another juvenile.
During the melee, a man later identified as 19-year-old Arthur Deshun Campbell of Detroit Lakes was seen hitting the boy with a tire iron in the back.
One of the juvenile’s friends were able to wrestle the weapon from Campbell and gave it to a fair employee at the yo-yo ride.
Officers observed the victim to have a swollen, bloody lip and forehead, as well as, red marks and bruising on his chest and back. He was also diagnosed with a concussion when he sought medical treatment for his injuries.
Campbell’s request for a public defender was approved and he is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Nov. 2 in Becker County District Court.
