POLK COUNTY (KFGO) – Firefighters are making progress in containing the massive Oxcart Fire in Polk County, Minnesota, the largest wildfire so far this spring in the state.
Leanne Langeberg with the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center says the wildfire which started Monday afternoon was “human caused” but no further information has been released.
Langeberg says a more accurate aerial survey indicates about 12,900 acres of grassland has burned. Firefighters from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the state department of natural resources remain in the area. She says the red flag warning, with high winds and dry conditions, could worsen the spread of the fire.
