Rural DL woman charged with felony drug possession

Detroit Lakes, Minn. (KDLM) – A rural Detroit Lakes woman has been charged with felony second-degree possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor DWI following an August traffic stop.

On Aug. 9, a Becker County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a 2006 Chevy Impala without an operational rear license plate light and began to follow the vehicle.

The car drove onto the white road line twice as they were following them and the deputy initiated a traffic stop.

During the encounter with the driver, 40-year-old Callie Marie Kohler of rural Detroit Lakes, the deputy noticed physical characteristics consistent with recent drug use.

Kohler was arrested under suspicion of DWI and a search or her vehicle turned up more than 30 grams of methamphetamine, a scale and multiple micro baggies.

She posted a $500 cash bail and was released.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 9.
